Thanks to the Westerners of The Nanking Safety Zone, Nanjing was able to recover from the destruction and grow stronger as a city and even as a whole country. Although, the Japanese still had control over China throughout World War II, they stopped the massacre, all because of the help of the committee. Diaries entries and letters, from the members such as Rabe and McCallum, exploited the actions of the Japanese. The highest ranked Japanese soldiers were hung and the refugees left the safety zone, in full safety with money and food. The Chinese, of all the people, should be grateful for their neighboring countries. If it weren't for these men and women to risk their lives, to save the Chinese's lives, The Rape of Nanking could of lasted longer; meaning more people could have been killed, scarring more and more of the city itself. Because of the Safety Zone Committee, those who are still alive today are able to share their story of this tragedy and prove Japan's knowledge of this event, wrong. Japan, even till this day, feel guilty of their past soldiers' actions, are repaying the Chinese with fair trade. Rest in peace to those who died during The Rape of Nanking and bless those family who are still alive today and is unfortunate enough to experience this massacre.
Here are a couple images after the massacre.
